Vitamin B-12 Gold

Methylcobalamin:

Methylcobalamin is a form of B12 that coenzymates and activates within the body to perform a specific function within the body. It is predominantly found in blood plasma, cytosol cells, and certain body fluids (like cerebral spinal fluid), works directly within the cells. It is responsible for the reactivation of folic acid (folate). Methylcobalamin also helps break down homocysteine, an amino acid and byproduct of protein metabolism, that can adversely impact heart health. Methylcobalamin is also a precursor of S-adenosylmethionine (or SAMe), the most important methyl donor in the body. Overall methylcobalamin supports cardiovascular function, neurological health, and emotional wellness.

Adenosylcobalamin:

Similar to Methylcobalamin, Adenosylcobalamin is a form of B-12 that performs a specific function within the body. Found in the mitochondria, cellular tissues store Adenosylcobalamin. These are also ‘energy centers’ in the body.  The liver actually stores most of the B-12 reserves as adenosylcobalamin. They convert to methylcobalamin as needed. As a result, the adenosylcobalamin supports optimal liver health and plays a vital role in carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism.
