Using CBD to benefit your health and wellness is relatively new. Due to this, many people still have a variety of questions on how to use CBD for their health. Below, we’ve answered the top CBD questions; from CBD legality to how fast we can ship CBD to your door.
Talk to your doctor before trying CBD, especially if you take any of the following: corticosteroids (such as prednisone), tofacitinib (Xeljanz), naproxen (Aleve), celecoxib (Celebrex), tramadol (Ultram), certain antidepressants, including amitriptyline (Elavil), citalopram (Celexa), fluoxetine (Prozac), mirtazapine (Remeron), paroxetine (Paxil), sertraline (Zoloft), and certain medications for fibromyalgia, including gabapentin (Neurontin) and pregabalin (Lyrica).
Many consumers have been skeptical of CBD because of the claims that it can help with so many different ailments. The answer is that CBD helps your body do all of the work.
Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is responsible for maintaining your body in a state of optimal homeostasis. In other words, the ECS works to keep your body in a stable condition where everything is working at its best, despite what might be going on outside you. The endocannabinoid system can help regulate all these biological functions, including:
- Appetite and digestion
- Temperature
- Immune function
- Inflammation
- Motor control
- Mood
- Memory
- Sleep
- Pain and Pleasure Response
The ECS can regulate these functions through its communication with the nervous system, digestive system, and immune system—by way of the cannabinoid receptors. Although others exist, to date researchers have focused mainly on two cannabinoid receptors:
- CB1 receptors reside in your central nervous system, which consists of your brain and the nerves in your spinal cord.
- CB2 receptors reside in your peripheral nervous system, which consists of the nerves located throughout the rest of your body (enabling your brain to communicate with these areas), as well as your digestive and immune systems.
Because cannabinoid receptors are located throughout your body, your ECS can act with precision whenever it addresses an issue of imbalance in one of your bodily systems. It can pinpoint an area with inflammation and target that issue specifically, rather than affecting other systems and throwing more things out of whack.
CBD can interact with and bind to both types of receptors: the CB1 receptors in your brain as well as the CB2 receptors throughout your body. As a result, the beneficial effects distribute throughout your body, relieving mental conditions like anxiety as well as muscle spasms, pain, and inflammation. There’s also no “high” associated with CBD. CBD also affects your ECS by inhibiting the FAAH enzyme, which breaks down anandamide. Anandamide produces a calming effect, so by blocking the FAAH enzyme that breaks it down, CBD can be helpful in relieving anxiety disorders.
Homeostasis plays an important role in our overall health. Since external cannabinoids like CBD can bond to our cannabinoid receptors just as well as the endocannabinoids our bodies naturally produce, researchers are finding that CBD products can have wide-ranging therapeutic benefits for various health issues, including anxiety, insomnia, cancer, and more.

Mother Earth Natural Health is licensed by the Michigan Department of Agriculture, through the Industrial Research Program, as a hemp handler/processor. We are currently a research resource for this program in the state of Michigan on CBD products. All the products we carry go through third-party lab testing.
If you are required to take regular drug tests, we recommend using a broad spectrum or a pure CBD product. These product types contain zero THC and will not interfere with a drug test. If you are not sure if your product has THC in it, then look at the test results for your specific batch, or give us a call at (866) 244-4223, and we can recommend a zero THC brand.
CBD and hemp oils are made from different parts of the plant and have different purposes. CBD is extracted from the entire plant, except for the seeds and hemp oil is extracted from the seeds only. Hemp oil comes from pressing hemp seeds and is in a variety of products. Hemp-seed oil is used for cooking, skin and hair care and is a natural antioxidant.

Currently, the FDA does not evaluate CBD, see the statement from the FDA website below:
“FDA is currently evaluating the regulatory frameworks that apply to certain cannabis-derived products that are intended for non-drug uses, including whether and/or how the FDA might consider updating its regulations, as well as whether potential legislation might be appropriate. Information we have underscores the need for further study and high quality, scientific information about the safety and potential uses of CBD. The FDA is committed to sound, science-based policy. The FDA is raising these safety, marketing and labeling concerns with you now because we want you to know what we know.”

While CBD is NOT marijuana, TSA has approved most forms of CBD under the umbrella of Medical Cannabis, for website purposes only. This does make it hard to find when searching for CBD regulations, so we wanted to include the rule as read on the website, with the link for you here. All of our products fall under the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018.

Marijuana and certain cannabis infused products, including some Cannabidiol (CBD) oil, remain illegal under federal law except for products that contain no more than 0.3 percent THC on a dry weight basis or that are approved by FDA. (See the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, Pub. L. 115-334.) TSA officers are required to report any suspected violations of law to local, state or federal authorities.
TSA’s screening procedures are focused on security and are designed to detect potential threats to aviation and passengers. Accordingly, TSA security officers do not search for marijuana or other illegal drugs, but if any illegal substance is discovered during security screening, TSA will refer the matter to a law enforcement officer.
